Overview

AutoZone’s “For the PRO” platform is dedicated to professional mechanics and service shops. The existing experience felt fragmented and inconsistent across devices. My goal was to simplify the flow, modernize the interface, and help users find tools, parts, and resources faster — while keeping the experience aligned with AutoZone’s brand ecosystem.

Challenge

The previous design made it difficult for professionals to quickly access core information such as parts availability, pricing, and repair resources. Navigation was complex, and the visual design didn’t reflect the efficiency and trust expected from a professional-grade tool.

Approach & Methods

  • Conducted user interviews with mechanics and shop managers to understand pain points in daily use.

  • Audited the existing site to identify usability gaps and redundant entry points.

  • Designed a streamlined information architecture that reduced friction in task flows.

  • Created responsive wireframes and prototypes emphasizing speed, accessibility, and clarity.

  • Collaborated with stakeholders to ensure visual consistency with AutoZone’s consumer site while adapting tone and content for professional users.

Solution Highlights

  • Introduced clearer navigation focused on primary tasks (ordering, account access, resources).

  • Simplified layout and hierarchy for faster scanning.

  • Modernized UI to reflect reliability and technical precision.

  • Improved content grouping and typography to enhance legibility in shop environments.

Impact & Learnings

After launch, user testing showed smoother navigation and faster task completion for PRO users. Engagement increased across key interaction points, particularly in part ordering and account management. This project reinforced the importance of designing for context — understanding that mechanics often access the platform while multitasking or using mobile devices. It reminded me to prioritize clarity, tap targets, and minimal visual noise to support real-world workflows.
